Playacar

Playa del Carmen is situated in the Heart of the Riviera Maya, between the Cancún Internacional Airport and Tulum with its amazing beach front Ruins and expansive white sandy beaches.

Playa del Carmen has had rapid growth in the last 10 years. It has gone from being a small fishing village with the Cozumel Ferry to an urban center of over 100,000 residents.

The tourist area has maintained the charm of a small town on the edge of the Caribbean Sea. Famous for its 5th avenue that runs one street parallel from the beach. The avenue is blocked off to through traffic and offers a variety of restaurants, bars, clubs, boutiques and jewelry stores. At night the town comes alive with visitors from all over the World.

Playa del Carmen consists of two different zones. The town to the north and the private residential zone known as Playacar Phase I and to the south Playacar Phase II.

Playacar Phase I

Situated in front of the sea, this community was established in the late 80’s with beautiful homes and a ecological ambiance. The majority consists of ocean view and others just a short distance from the beach.

Playacar Phase II

This is a luxury residential area developed in the 90’s with a 18 hole internationally recognized golf course, 5 star hotels, condominiums facing golf course, these residences are occupied by both locals and international visitors.

Golf

The Playacar golf club opened its doors on September 15, 1994. It was designed and Developed under the supervision of the famous Architect Robert Von Hagge. It is a par 72 with 7,1444 yards of longitude. This magnificent golf course is edged within the Mayan jungle, encompassing numerous lakes and luxurious vegetation.

Spa and gym

Within Playacar there are numerous spas and gymnasiums. The 5 star hotels offer memberships and a variety of installations for sports.

Archeological zone in Playacar

The ancient city of Xaman-Ha, known as Playa del Carmen, was the port of embarkation going toward the sacred island of Cozumel, which was the site dedicated to the goddess Ixchel, goddess of fertility. Women from all over the Yucatán would come to Xamana-Ha to make the trip to Cozumel in canoes. Some of the Mayan structures have been preserved in Playa del Carmen. Playa del Carmen was the most accessible temple in its time.
